Approvals in Eastern Ontario run through each municipality's zoning by-law and Official Plan, and often through a conservation authority: Rideau Valley, Cataraqui, South Nation, Mississippi Valley or Raisin Region, depending on the watershed. Waterfront lots on the St. Lawrence, the Rideau and the region's lakes usually bring floodplain and shoreline setbacks. We sort out which rules apply before design starts.
